I'm an ex-nurseryman and have been 'tinkering' with growing exotic plants out of doors in the UK for over 25 years. I now live in a very mild part of the UK right on the coast barely a few hundred yards from the sea and the garden is a tiny 'pocket handkerchief' crammed to busting with far too many plants. It is dominated by big clumps of bananas and gingers (Hedychiums) although there are lots of palms as well.
