My wife and I have been together for over 6 years. My 3rd go round, her 2nd.(We're vets, now.:-) ) She's lived here for 30+ years and was pretty well settled, so I moved here with her. I used to live in the city, and working in our yard has been my first experience with gardening since I was young. I'm pretty much a novice, in other words.

I'm semi-retired. We care for her brother who was disabled in Vietnam, and when he got a little worse a couple years back I left work to help her full time. She also helps her parents out, as they can't drive any more. She couldn't do it all.

In that time I've gone from someone who mowed the grass, raked leaves and planted a couple of flowers to someone who's pruned and even cut down trees, built a deck, resodded the yard, constructed walkways and a patio with pavers, and built little walls with retaining wall blocks. I also do some woodworking, making lighthouses and other yard ornaments.

I hate the heat, love the cold. I don't like days upon days of rain, but it could snow for a month straight and I'd never complain as long as my snowblower runs. My favorite season is autumn though, with the cool weather and all the beautiful colors, followed closely by spring, when the trees and flowers start coming back, and it's time to go tinker in the yard again!
