I started vegetable gardening on my own in 2005 (I did help my parents a lot growing up). My garden is about 40 square, and I focus on growing tomatoes - lots of interesting heirlooms, Black Krim and Brandywine being my favorites. I typically grow tomatillos, several different types of cucumbers, various peppers, eggplant (if Im lucky), a little corn if I can squeeze it in, green and yellow beans, onions, garlic, leeks, and shallots as well. I enjoy canning and preserving what I grow. I also grow perennials but those are secondary, kind of like the lawn; they never look bad but they just arent veggies! Gardening is so much fun and a great learning experience.
