Still a newbie gardener, but motivated to learn and never run out of questions that need answering. I came to GardenWeb to do some research, and hopefully connect with more experienced gardeners in my area. I m originally from Western MN/Eastern ND. I moved to Colorado in 2007, and recently bought my first house here, in Woodland Park; and I love it here but, I m in a totally different environment than what I m used to. We seem to have our own special climate up here. I m on a budget, so I m making an effort to do my homework before I get too carried away but I keep making stupid newbie mistakes. Despite all the newbie issues I truly love the process of gardening. I tend to get addicted to plants as I learn more about them. At first, I was almost exclusively interested in edibles; herbs, spices, fruits, berries, certain vegetables, etc. Lately, I m starting to appreciate other plant types that didn t pay attention to before... like hardy perennials, native wildflowers, tree s and even mushrooms. My property has some problem area s that I can t wait to work on. I don t have a huge lot but I seem to have a variety of microclimates to work with. (To a mind-boggling degree) Lately, I find myself examining my yard as if it were a big and mysterious treasure map, full of puzzles for me to solve.
