My addiction started when I was about 7yrs old (not telling how old I am,but I remember seeing Noahs Ark BRAND NEW!) with successfull propagation of Hydrangea cuttings.Been affected by the gardening bug ever since. I live in a small town in New South Wales,Australia.Population about 5000, 300 metres above sea level and about 200 kilometres from the coast.It gets pretty hot here in summer.Has reached 46 Celcius(114 Farenheit) on odd occasions but usually we have about 40 C as a max temp.Winters are mild compared to overseas.Frost is common and lowest temp here is about -8 Celcius below(19 Farenheit).It last snowed in our town in 1965.I have been told by U.S.A visitors that the climate here is very similar to parts of California.Drought is becoming all too common and we are at present in a 3yr drought,the worst in local living memory with no end in sight and water supplies starting to get to critical in some places.Am interested in all plants but my main interest is in rare trees and I absolutely LOVE rare conifers(well at least the ones that are rare in Australia).I love a challenge and I am trying to grow at present some cold climate trees and conifers with mixed success.If anyone has some rain they don't want can they send it down under,we could do with it at the moment.Looking forward to "talking" with others about all gardening subjects,Regards Terry(Conifer_Nut)
