My hobby progression to gardening was natural, since I have a biology degree and extensive work experience in biochemistry, ecology, and microbiology. I also do some homebrewing, which is a "no-brainer" hobby for someone who is fascinated by microbiology and who has worked in the field. I live in an apartment, so my "garden" consists of several containers in which I grow everything from artichoke to zucchinni. I just started gardening in 2002 with some peppers, but I liked it so much that I stepped up production in 2003 and I'm branching out into other areas. I enliken my balcony foliage to the hanging gardens of Babylon, but I'm sure my neighbors would say it's more like "The Beverly Hillbillies".
