I recently moved from St. Paul, MN, to Bologna, Italy. I had a lovely garden in MN, full of winter-hardy roses and other perennials. This is a completely different climate and although I'm delighted to garden in a zone warmer than 4, I have a lot to learn about growing things in this area! I garden completely organically, am a student herbalist, and I like to grow my own veggies and herbs.

We live just outside of Bologna, Italy, up into the foothills of the Apennine mountains, so I think we're more zone 7 to 8 here.

My garden here is definitely a work in progress. This was my husband's grandparent's place, and at one time it was filled with roses and other plants. Alas, after 20-odd years of renters, it's overgrown yard with a few roses and bulbs struggling to survive. Lots of great wild herbs in the lawn, though! 2003 is my first summer to work on it. I'm hoping to make it lovely again.

I live in: Italy

My zone is: N Italy
