I am blessed to live in an 1870 historical house in Westchester County with my husband and two Flat-Coated Retrievers. My 18 year old daughter just started college. The house is sometimes a mixed blessing, but the land is beautiful. It’s only a shy acre, but the original house was built b4 the Revolution (and burned down by the "Brits" because the basement was full of munitions, and the kitchen was used for planning meetings. so cranky!) So, the soil, tended for almost 250 years is a friable, fertile, dark joy. I suspect that the former owners continue to amend the land, as they and their friends and neighbors are all buried in the churchyard next door!
My dogs are another great pleasure in my life. We show them in conformation and obedience, and, when I an healthy enough, they are therapy dogs for our local nursing home. Doin therapy w/ the dogs is an outrageous blessing. They also work hard as my personal therapy dogs, as I am disabled.
I also love to sew and do crafts. Have recently taken up painting. I’ve found that hydrangeas are the easiest, as you can do them in a fuzzy impressionistic manner, and they still look realistic!
Love to cook too, which is how I am justifying the $$$ of vegetable seeds just ordered. From Pinetree, mind you, where seeds are often less than a dollar! (I think I’ve memorized the Pinetree catalog by now...)
GW seems a treasure trove, can’t wait to explore!
