My garden spot consists of an acre of property hidden from the road by large trees about an hours drive from where I live. The outer edges are large trees and the center portion is pretty clear. If I don't get up there to tend it, the ferns are quick to reclaim it. There are also quite a few wild berries ... wintergreen, strawberries, bluberries, raspberries, and blackberries ... so I'm not really interested in clearing anymore than the center of it. I have planted many things, but it all turns into food for the deer and rabbits ... plus a few other creatures. I hope to someday build a cabin up there. In the meantime ... I'm looking for some tall fence ... and then I'll start replanting more grapes, fruit trees, and flowers.

Since I have no electricity or running water up there, when I don't feel like working outdoors, I spend my time making crafty things or reading.

My favorite forum here is Garden Junk ... my friends think I'm crazy but they are always interested in just what I'm going to make next ... and can I have one? ... is usually the next response.
