Moved to New Mexico (a few miles south of Albuquerque) from New York City 13 years ago. Despite what to me (very personally as I am a rain person) is an inhospitable climate, I have managed to make a garden of sorts along the lines of Chinese gardening which I very much admire. I grow a large number of fairly rare and/or unusual plants both as ornamentals and vegetables and do hybridizing. My garden is labor intensive--no fancy equipment, watering mechanisms, greenhouse, etc.--just a shovel, a rake, haul-around hoses, and an electric lawnmower/mulcher.
