UPDATE 2005: In my senior year of college, just started an Americorps position with the local botanical park, photographing and cataloging their 800 species - great work if you can get it! Added my trade list today.

UPDATE 2004: I've been having plant sales in the spring and fall and am doing well with them - mostly houseplants, but they seem to be popular. Still haven't dug the pond - so much time and money involved! If I could, I'd garden every day to the exclusion of nearly everything else!

I'm a freelance writer and photographer,full-time student, and grandmother living in an Arts & Crafts bungalow beneath the shade of seven oak trees in Davenport, Iowa. I use only organic gardening techniques, have had my yard certified as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation, and am just beginning the project of installing a pond. I've been writing for organic farming and environmental publications for about six years, and this summer (2003) am planning to have a booth at the local farmer's market with a friend offering a variety of garden stuff and plants. Love to exchange because I am living on an extremely tight budget (husband is disabled), so appreciate any abundance that allows me to obtain things via barter or by "recycling." I don't have a garden page yet because I haven't had the time. See you in the garden!
