I'm a home gardener with vegetables and fruits on 2 lots. We have 16 short little plum and Pluot trees and a plumcot, 9 apricots and an Aprium , 14 peaches and nectarines, 2 cherries, 2 figs, 2 apples and a pomegranate. We also have grapes, berries and clove currants, with some other Ribes coming along. This might sound like a lot of fruit to some people, but we keep trees and vines small with the goal of having a little of each variety. I think having the early-blooming Japanese plums and Pluots close together really helps with pollination when they bloom before the bees are active, but I do some hand-pollination, too.

We have hot summers (with cool nights except during monsoon season) and foggy winters in the southern California Central Valley - Sunset zone 8.

If you were not able to find Early Sugarshaw Hybrid Crenshaw Melon seed last year, try Vegetable Seed Warehouse or HPS. This is a truly outstanding variety, at least in hot summer areas.

I live in: United States

My zone is: z8/9 CA inland
