After moving to the desert Southwest from Buffalo, N.Y. 13 years ago, I am now living in a home with grounds to garden. I have spent much of my adult life in apartments, condos, and townhouses, so it is only in the past two years that I get to actually "garden"... which is, of course, so diferent from gardening back east. After trial and error, I've found that I disagree with some of the local "pundits". I have snapdragons blooming in August in Arizona... almost unheard of! Is our water bill sky high? NO! ... but I do water daily during the summer months. Roses are blooming, jasmine and snail plant are blooming... lantana is (as always) pretty much always in need of pruning.
I'm loving learning to garden in the desert. One of my favorite parts of every day is taking the walk around the ranch to water, prune, and admire.
