I grew up in an apartment in Manhattan, where the only gardening possible was on the window sill. Now I have a turn-of-the-century brownstone in Park Slope, Brooklyn, with a moderately sunny 20' x 50' back yard and a shady enclosure in front next to the stoop. After spending a few years cleaning the junk out of the back yard, I'm starting on my first outdoor gardening adventure.
