I love to garden - mostly flowers, also tomatoes and peppers in containers. The last few years, I've been expanding my collection of roses and experimenting with containers of annuals, along with the perennials that are the backbone of my garden beds.
With a full-time job, a 2-year old son and a 6-year-old son, I don't get nearly as much time "in the dirt" as I would like. On the other hand, I'm getting a great deal of enjoyment watching both boys as they are developing quite an affinity for flowers. Whenever something new blooms, they ask me what it is, then they delight in explaining what everything is to their daddy or grandma. I can honestly say there is little that is cuter than a newly-talking 2 year old say "Dabbadills".
I'm slowly reclaiming (and taming!) my yard. We bought an old house almost 7 years ago. It was owned by an older woman and the outside stuff just kind of got away from her as the years went on. I have lots of wonderful lilacs. The rest of the yard was weeds, giant ugly hostas, daylilies (the ordinary orange kind), and more weeds. Slowly but surely, I'm getting areas cleaned out and replanted with a variety of whatever strikes my fancy that year.
Next to actually gardening, I like to read about gardening and connect with other gardeners.
Beyond the garden, I like to do various kinds of crafts and I love to bake.
