As my username implies, my name is Brent and I live in Northern Virginia (Sterling/Potomac Falls/Cascades). I would say that my mother instilled the love of gardening in me. Growing up, she used to turn out wonderful vegetable gardens and always had a house full of healthy indoor plants.

I grew up in Michigan, earned a degree from Central Michigan University and owned a home for a short while in Weidman. I made a wonderful woman from Virginia my wife and for some reason she thought that Michigan was too cold. I spent a few years in the Seattle area during the dot com boom before ending up in Virginia.

I consider myself an intermediate level gardener. I am pretty good at getting plants to grow and I love playing in the compost pile. Lately I have been focusing on designing my landscape rather than just randomly planting perennials. I have been trying to incorporate more evergreen and flowering shrubs into my gardens.

If you get advice from me, take into account that I might not know what the hell I am talking about. ;-)
