I prefer all things tropical, despite my zone 5 location.
I find cottage gardens redundant and try to offer my part
of the country with exotic displays of plants that are otherwise not often seen. I've worked in some of the greatest garden centers in the KC area, and am perhaps a bit jaded when it comes to plants. For example, I do not grow geraniums, but I love some of the less available (in my area) scented and/or variegated succulent pelargoniums.
I enjoy the challenge of growing fickle flowers from seed.
