I love gardening and have a veggie garden, herb garden, woodland garden and many Hydrangeas. I also have lots of perennial beds that are full of plants that butterflies and hummingbirds visit often. In the fall I like to collect the eggs, larvae and caterpillars of the Black Swallowtails from my fennel to bring inside and feed until they emerge as butterflies...then I take them back outside. This "saves" them from birds and other problems..and is shown and talked about on my web site...A very long and interesting process...You wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it... when the caterpillar sheds off that skin and comes out as a Chrysalis!!! We have a pond/fountain and have fish there.although a large Great Blue Heron wants them....I also have a hosta collection, and a large number of orchids which I "summer" outside on my deck. Waiting to someday see my Vanilla bean orchid bloom, can't take it out because it's a long vine trailing around in my sunroom. My houseplant collection is huge and they also go outside in the summer in shady areas...We live in Darlington County.
