A new but avid gardener who always bites off more than I can chew/hoe/dig/maintain. After spending three years getting a drought-tolerant garden going, I'm now shifting to easy-care roses. I'm convinced that antique roses and some of the modern shrubs really give a garden more bang per square inch than most perennials and annuals with romance and charm that can't be denied! I'm liking it!
My garden is about a fourth of a mile off the intercoastal waterway in Mt. Pleasant, SC. In other words, it is hot, extremely humid, sandy. My Volvo Sedan stays constantly disgusting from hauling home bags of live oak leaves, sawdust, starbucks coffee grounds, and manure. In contrast to my car, my soil is looking pretty good!
When I'm not gardening, I make glass beads over a torch and fashion it into jewelry. I also fuse glass bowls, plates, window charms, etc. My art, like my garden, is an explosion of color, funky, and eclectic. I'm very fortunate to be able to do something I love for a living.
I also play tennis, read maniacally, and walk on the beach almost year round.
I live in: United States
My zone is: z 8/9, Chas, SC
