A botanist by avocation, Im interested in all kinds of plants and never have enough space, sun, or time to grow everything Id like to try. I started growing tomatoes in pots in my front yard, camouflaged with showier flowering plants, because thats the sunniest part of our yard. A small community garden plot gives me a bit more room for trying new (or new old) things. Naturally, Im hooked on heirloom tomatoes and I also like pushing the envelope for our climate. Okra seems to work fine, and Im sure to lick colored cotton (as an ornamental) one of these years.
