I've got four children, and a husband, and only the two year old is really interested in gardening. I plant for butterflies and hummingbirds because the deer don't eat those plants so much. The deer use me for a babysitter. They leave their babies in my vegetable garden. They come back to suckle. They are four foot RATS but I can't scare babies or nursing mothers. I also have enormous groundhogs who climb my plum tree. This is why I read more about roses than plant them.
