I am never sure if I compost to garden, or garden to compost because I love doing both. I like making dirt, and I like watching things grow in it. I like volunteers, and I love a haphazard garden (though I secretly admire the well landscaped gardens of some of my neighbors. Shhh ... dont tell). I have no problems with iris and potatoes and parsley in the same bed. What amazes me is how well it does on its own without a lot of help from me. It never fails that some big project comes up in summer that takes me a away for weeks at a time and the garden gets zero attention except perhaps (emphasis on perhaps) a watering.
