I'm leaving on my old introduction as it makes me feel good to recall the pre-Katrina days. The house in Ms. survived and I am working hard to make it liveable. The house in New Orleans was completely distroyed. With the house went the books, music, all of the plants (except some how the Crinums and some rain lilies too) and even the job at the radio station (I quit ... for many reasons). I am now starting life all over again this time as a country boy. A vegetable patch is a must for this spring.
Introduction before hurricane Katrina hit:
I'm looking to "grow my own". Its just my wife and myself to feed, so I 'd like to see if I can provide most of our needs with veggies and fruits that I grow with my own 2 hands. We have 8 acres in Mississippi on which I'm in the middle of building a house. And I mean I'm building ... as in I'm the one swinging the hammer, raising the walls and yes sweating and cursing ... well I try just to mumble the worst of the cursing. :> And yes it has been a lot of work. Hey I just got the metal roof on Nov. 2004!!! Man am I one happy guy!!!!
I'm also a music nut which is easy to understand when you realize that I'm a radio announcer ... thats a d.j. :> ... in New Orleans. You can see my mug shot ... I mean picture at
I also love reading sci-fi and fantasy. I have collection over 3000 books and even more old albums and cds.
And of course I love ...well pretty much ...all plants. Criniums, gingers and rain lilies are my favorites by far. They can take the heat and humidity we get down south and provide some of the most beautiful blooms in the midst of the hottest of the summer heat.
Give me a home where the ... er no buffalo here but how about birds and butterflies roam? Wish I was near a tree right now so I could give it a big hug. :o)
