I live on the coast in northern California with my husband of 17 years, 8 year old daughter and 3 year old son. Sunset zone 16 (USDA zone 9a), with cool summers due to the ocean influence and morning fog most of the summer, and mild winters where it rarely reaches freezing. We get nearly zero rain between May and November, so xeriscaping is a good thing! I love mediterranean plantings, especially salvias, and a mix of formal, informal and naturalistic design.
