I've worked in many high-tech areas, am a Computer Systems Engineer and Unix (primarily Solaris) Systems Administrator, and a frugal Baby Boomer who ranks quality and price far above speed, quantity, or most any other factor, whether for services or goods. I research carefully before making my decisions, which is why the forums and participants here are so helpful.

I dig hard for the best price, but don't mind paying someone fairly for their products or services. I've become an accomplished DIY'er because I can do the work (or too often, the re-work) better than many so-called tradesmen. Those who have done good work get to come back.

Even though it sometimes calls for delayed gratification, my guiding principle is "Do It Right and Make It Long Lasting, so you only have to Do It Once".
