Have been a serious rose grower for over 20 years. When I lived in Cleveland they were easy to grow, but 8 years ago I moved to Portville, NY(z5a)which can be sub zero in the winter, and because of the Allegany mountains can't see the sun in the summer until 10AM because of the fog. I burry all of my roses in the fall and still have to replace 30-50% each year. I have over 60 rose bushes. This year I put 40 dry root plants in large planters and will cary most over the winter in my cellar which has 8 artificial florescents and is a constant 50-55f temp. I will replace the roses that need shovel pruning next year with the ones in my cellar.

I live in: United States

My zone is: z5aNY

My favorite forum 1 is Roses.
