Hey y'all! (Hope I used that "y'all" correctly!)
Moving from the arid HOT desert zone 10 to Eden (Cary, NC) in early June and looking forward to seeing what gardening is all about! We are getting a house with .33 acres, all wooded and straggly in the back yard, and right off a busy street, so need advice on screening that out.
Would love advice, etc on how to turn it into the yard of my dreams. I am a mom with 4 boys - youngest one (6) recovering from cancer, so besides pretty for me, is there some things to grow that will be fun for them? I would love to hook up with some gardening friends - is there any clubs, etc, in the Triangle area? Would love to have a friend by my side as I explore the great gardens I have seen on-line.
Here in the wild west we specialize in desert (read, gravel everywhere!) landscaping, palm trees and cactus. Right now (end of April) everything is getting good and brown for summer, but we had a really wet winter this year and had some wildflowers for a few weeks. For the most part, you can't tell what time of year it is by looking out your window - it always looks the same. I am so looking forward to having seasons!
I live in: United States
My zone is: z7 - Raleigh
