Had an appreciation for plants since I was a small child. My first houseplant was a bromeliad queens tears. At 8 years old, I did not understand hardiness and left it out during a harsh winter in zone 5. So that only lasted a few months....After that I have had several houseplants and several died. Finally a year and a half ago I decided to pursue botany/biochemistry and/or horticulture/landscaping. Only read things online though and that is not reliable. Still trying to learn taxonomy and conditions of as many plants as I can. I have most genus names down, several species but there are millions. I have a small collection of approximately 15 plants as of 2013.
