I've been a gardener for 30 years. For the last 22 years I have lived in a Chicago suburb on a 2-acre lot and have been learning how to use native plants in my landscape through membership in an organization called \"Wild Ones, Native Plants, Natural Yards,\" and also by taking a lot of classes at the Morton Arboretum. My yard is now certified as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation. Two years ago I added a small pond to my front yard which has brought me a lot of pleasure in watching the birds who visit and the toads who lay their eggs in it. I have a lot to learn about taking care of the pond, which is what brings me to the forum.
