My husband and I live on a small farm in eastern Ohio; Askew Acres and Askew Gardens, not to be confused with the world reknown "Kew Gardens" :). We keep rare chickens, have 4 dogs, 8 cats, 8 geese, 5 guineas, 3 ducks, 3 turkeys and other transient critters. We are modern homesteaders; we work in the real world to support our farm essentially. We keep bees, make maple syrup, can and freeze our vegetables for winter, and provide as much of our own food as possible.
I have many theme gardens including a bog garden, two small ponds for water gardening, woodland garden, butterfly and hummingbird garden, white garden, a pastel shade garden, shade garden with dark colors, a very big vegetable garden in which I grow primarily heirloom varieties. I have a 50 x 10 foot perennial most of which I started with seeds from Garden Web either in my greenhouse or by winter sowing.
I have a penchant for clematis, columbines, heuchera, agastache, salvias, fragrant varieties, plants with purple foliage, and other unusual plants.
