Have developed my garden over the past 30 years in a heavily wooded sandy soil and rock ridden site..lots of shade. Have perennial gardens, herb and vegetable beds. Lots of container gardening on the terrace in summer. Outwitting the deer and the undergorund invaders from the surrounding woodland is probably the prime motivating force in plant selection. Maintenance is a factor - just two of us do it all - my philosophy is plant enough compatible plants and there is no room for weeds. Maintenenace is then not a chore but a pleasure!
