Im an artist and art teacher, amateur genealogist, and animal lover (i.e. crazy cat lady...) living just west of Charlottesville, Virginia. I love taking digital photographs of my growing things just about as much as I enjoy growing them.

I didnt seriously get into flower gardening until about 5 years ago and its definitely a learning process. Im starting to plan things out better (doing a lot of plant shuffling these days) and Im also better about seeking out specific plants, rather than doing a lot of impulse buying.

Favorites include azaleas, butterfly bushes, agastache, bleeding hearts, verbena, hostas and more. Main colors in my gardens are purple, blue, pink/magenta and splashes of white. Not too fond of red or yellow, but I do have one bed pretty well dedicated to yellow with daylilies and black-eyed susans. The butterflies love the black-eyed susans so that makes them a worthwhile addition. :-)

After spending a couple of years hand digging a large pond, I now dont have the $$$ to finish it! I compensated late in the summer of 2004 by putting in a small preformed pondlette, though I dream of some day having the big pond, too. (Right now I just tell people that the big hole in the ground is where the meteorite hit--lol!)
