Grew up in the Metro New York area, started gardening in nice, loose, quick-draining sandy soil. Subsequently moved to Atlanta where the the soil takes a week to drain after a half-inch of rain. Exaggerating - but only slightly! My husband and I built an empty-nester ranch home in an area of lovely houses and barren yards. My goal: to have a beautiful garden before arthritis and fallen arches sets in!

Love all the stories and photos from other gardeners. Gives the rest of us ideas and inspiration - and a reason for all the perspiration!
