I've lived and gardened in Kansas for about 17 years. Have only become a hemaholic in the past 5 years or so. We moved to a larger yard (2/3 acre) 2 years ago. The yard does include a house but that was a secondary consideration. My husband is good natured about being a garden widower in the summer (and spring and fall) and even helps with soil and compost moving and large hole digging. My 2 sons are grown and no grandchildren yet so if I could just afford to retire early I'd have lots of time to garden.
