Although I am originally from Connecticut and have lived for many years in Washington, DC, I currently live in rural Louisiana in Ruston(the north-central area of in the state). My husband and I have been here for the past two years with our dog, Bonnie.

I started collecting common orchids as a way to keep busy. The Walmart here practicallt throws them away and I always feel the need to "rescue" plants. So - now I am hooked and love reading the orchid forum pages. Although I rarely post, I have learned lots for experienced growers. Now I am beginning to select more exotic and slightly more difficult orchids to grow.

I have also started collecting other "unusual" plants - fig, pomegranate and night-blooming cyrus.
