Small townhouse garden. Crappy soil - the nastiest clay backfill you could imagine. No morning sun, then harsh summer sun of southwest Colorado beats down. High in altitude (6,500 ft). Micro climate of cool canyon winds at night. Lots of pavement in the front, limited to large container gardening there. I am currently on an ornamental grasses/xeriscape kick. My lot borders a steep south-facing hill (highway right of way - currently a wasteland) that will be my xeriscape project this year. I also enjoy feeding birds. My neighbors are total non-gardeners, so my garden is an oasis surrounded by bare, weedy lots. It sure makes me look like Mr. Greenthumb. But I do wish others would be as interested in flowers, shrubs and trees as I am. Oh well, at leas they are nice and we all get along!
