This is now my second season of gardening. Hopefully, my above web page will let you look at my work in progress, Go to shutterfly.com and click on the member sign in, the user name is da_angelsmama@yahoo.com the password is matthew (lowercase) and it will ask for both. My older shots of my garden when I first started are on webshots, just do a search on da_angelsmama.

I am a single mother of two. My kids are 13 and 7 and they are learning about gardening with me. My other "kids" are 3 pugs named Jazzy and Max and now their newborn son, Pugsley. I also have a Rottweiller named Lizzy (shhhh Lizzy thinks she is a Pug....a really big pug).

We sit in our swing and watch the hummers and butterflies.....ahhhh life is good even though it has some thorny moments.

This time last year, I was running at full speed. I was a full time working mom, running kids here and there and working in my garden as a great stress releaser. Then one of life's thorns pricked me in the..well it pricked me :) and all of the sudden my life changed. It seemed like one thorn after another just like when you are pruning and you have forgotten your long sleeves and gloves.

In a short time span I found myself being checked for heart problems at 39, being laid off my job, having to kick a jerk to the curb because he wasn't the man he should have been and having my bipolar illness come out in full force because of all of the stressors in my life. It has gotten so bad that now I have driving restrictions (dang, have to get rides to Chamblees now)! The stressors they say cause me to have some type of blackouts.

You may wonder why the heck I am telling you this (I wonder why the heck I am) the warmth and generousity I have found from the garden web members has totally restored my faith in humanity. In a time when the world seems to have gone down the toilet, the members of this forum have reached out to me in so many ways.

Some in just general friendship, some in prayer, some like our eccentric Noisette Queen Rozanna who put out an all call in the spring to get my 100 rose bushes planted.....and people came. GW'ers from 6 hours away, 2 and 3 hours away to 30 minutes away came to help someone who was just a name on a forum. They ate my burnt hambergers and planted my roses and made my heart fill with joy. That backyard garden was christened the "friendshiip garden".

Now in our troubled society Garden Webber's are starting to have your not so typpical garden parties. Of course, I wouldn't have been able to make it to Melva's if Rozanna haddn't stop by and nudged me into it. Even after the kindess, I was still worried what people would think, I was afraid I would have one of my "spells" at Melva's party. She was aware of it and being the gracious lady she is, she told me she would take care of me.

The moral to my story is that we not only have the opportunity here to share knowledge on how to grow and maintain roses, but we can show that the world really isn't going down the toilet. There are great folks world wide and they touch a life daily. Remember that when you post you will touch a life and that life may have thorns......thanks for stopping the bleeding.

I have truly fallen in love with roses, but we also have gardenias, and any and everything that is fragrant. It is wonderful to be surrounded by beauty and scents.

Right now, I just want to create a haven for me and the kids.

I hope you will take time to look at my works in progress, from my garden to my kids :)
