I've gardened on the East Coast in Zone 6/7 and in Zone 8. I moved to Colorado, which is rated a zone 4b where I live, but I've been told we haven't had a "real winter" for the past 10 years. People estimate that we are now a zone 5, or maybe even a 6 depending on where you live. My first few years here were in the midst of the worst drought since the 1300's, estimated from tree rings. I hated winter--it was just cold, wind and blowing dirt. I hated summer--it was hot, wind, and blowing dust. The springs and falls, all 3 weeks of them, were wonderful. Then it started to rain and snow. It's still dry by East Coast standards, but the native plant palette is wonderful.

I live in: United States

My zone is: Z5 CO
