I live in town, with my husband and teen son. I have a small and VERY shady yard, so naturally I have TONS of Hostas, left from the former owner. What I dont have is sun for a veggie garden, so I end up with containers on my large patio and a teeny 4x8 raised bed. Im fairly new to gardening, although I grew up on a farm. My mom had the greenest thumb I ever saw with houseplants - she could grow anything. But, she didnt really like working outside in a large family garden and decided she could buy canned veggies easier! LOL. I do it more to make the yard look nice and because I love those home-grown veggies! Am starting composting from the many leaves in my yard.
