I grew up in a house on a canyon. I spent most of my childhood scouting around climbing, hiking and enjoying nature in this canyon. I was always in awe of the trees and flora. They delighted and amazed me. I am still happiest outside with nature. Roses in particular, at this point in my life, blow me away. Each one is like a present. I started out with pots due to clay, rock and decomposed granite earth here at my house. This 2009 spring season I built two raised beds and one ground level (that actually drains!). Its party time for roses! So far I have a few (or more)HTs, Grands, Floris, pollys, and Antiques. As I learn more, I add the more. As a child I would walk around the neighborhood and pick a bouquet of flowers for my Mother, much to her embarrassment. I never thought twice about picking a neighbors flowers. :-) Isnt that what they are for? I soon hope to have a front yard where people can pick a flower or two when out on their walk. So, my neighborhood made bouquets for my Mother was my introduction to roses. I have been to a few seminars, shows and gardens.
