My primary interest is growing fruit and other edibles. I can't really say I'm an "organic" gardener, because that is not the principle that guides my decision making, but I can say this: for every problem or challenge in the garden, there are organic and non-organic solutions, and the large majority of the time I find that the best solution, in my judgement, is "organic". I do find the ideas behind permaculture to be quite compelling, and have set up my main garden as a forest garden. I've got a PhD in biology, some background in plant biology, have taught college level Bacteriology, Evolution, and Molecular Genetics. With that as my background, I have no worries about the safety of GMOs per se, although I appreciate that their presence in the marketplace and the fields has created problems for organic farmers.
