As well as shade gardening, I'm interested in native woodland plants, botany, horticulture in general, and plant physiology. I have no formal training, but have learned a lot by reading, attending lectures and symposia, watching nature, and by trial and error in my own garden.

I'm the newsletter editor for two local gardening groups. I find the research and writing involved both enjoyable and educational.
