I know I am entering middle age because I am now interested in gardening, having already taken up birding. I live with my family in Chicago on a small urban lot. My wife went through a phase of gardening enthusiasm when we bought our house some years ago, and now I get to garden in the spots she left...notably the shady area on the N side of the house.
After a lot of preparation I'm putting in my shade garden now, Spring 2002. I expect to have a lot of questions.
