My garden style is very haphazard - when people are being kind, it could be described as cottage gardening... I m a hack at gardening - throw things here and there without much planning, but am learning a lot and my gardens are improving! I love lots of colors mixed together, and wouldn t be happy with single color theme gardens. I am taking a much more serious approach to composting and soil improvement lately.
I do a lot of growing from seed, and love to winter sow. Winter 2010 will be my ninth year of winter sowing and seed trading.
I spent several years on the southcoast of Massachusetts, where I first started wintersowing and had the most interesting (note that I didn t say most beautiful - too haphazard, LOL) gardens in the neighborhood. The past couple of years have been rough - I left my gardens for SC, and then again for northern AL. I love the southern climate, but learning to garden in the heat and red clay is challenging. I am looking forward to putting down some roots for a few years - I now have an acre and a half to garden on, more land than I've ever had in the past. It's a learning experience!
