Front of Home Landscaping ideas to hide ugly A/C Unit
Comments (4)There is a woman (WoodyOak) who frequently posts on the perennial forum who maintains a short blog for herself as a garden management tool. She has designed and built several garden structures, and here is the page that explains her ornamental enclosure for the air conditioner as well as how they modified it when they had to replace the unit with one that was taller. It's painted green to blend in with surrounding plants. The photos of the enclosure start with the fourth one. Woodyoak's north alley air conditioner enclosure...See MoreHELP! Comments (1)So just some thoughts... I would ditch the clematis for some sort of topiary bush. It would become a statement plant. Look at low bushes that are purple, red, yellow that are slow growing and don’t require a lot of trimming. I wouldn’t really add anymore green. Between the lawn and the house color, you need other colors. Also consider something spiked to add interest. Along the rail, just do a low border plant like liriope. It has white and green leaves and gets a purple bloom in summer. A local nursery can really help. They can even create a plan for you....See MoreIdeas for mulched walkway and landscaping in front of house
Comments (18)As far as the damaged tree, I don't think you can do anything about it. First it looks like the tree is mending itself. Second which you sort of confirmed the tree is in the easement for the street and technically is not yours, but belongs to the city. So the city will decide if it stays or goes. It looks like that it is far enough from your home that even if it falls straight at the closes part of your house there will be no damage. You have a pretty house. If it were mine I would add some flowering plants like roses, forsythia, Spirea, laura pendulum to add a little color to the house. May be a pretty pink cherry in the on the left about half way between the street an the house....See MoreLandscaping Ideas for this MCM house? Front yard needs some control
Comments (10)Oh wow… what a house. I would hire a landscape architect with experience with MCMs, even if you do the labor yourself. We have a sloping small backyard (in LA), but had someone draw up some plans based on our rough ideas. He also let us know what we could and could not afford on our budget. I thought we could afford a deck using certain material (i looked at material pricing plus estimated labor), and he said that is NOT in your budget, hahaha. He was also very helpful in designing it for us to add stuff later easily, whether underground or above ground....See MoreMichele Armstrong
