What would you call this fabric, + where to find it?
Comments (18)Wow, bestyears, I can't believe you found that!!! I am going to search for a supplier and cost and see it it's do-able. rnmomof2, The original price was $75. She lowered it to $50 already.... I believe she actually has 3 of the 4. (and whatever the canopy supports are). I'm thinking we might just add 2 (new) finials or even just balls to the foot posts- or even leave them off altogether. My daughter didn't care at all, since she want it to be somewhat "shabby" and not all perfect, so..... my3dogs- hi neighbor!! There are a few of us from around here. I believe circuspeanut (usually on kitchens) is from downtown Portland. I am in Cumberland :) I have visited the curtainshop, but EVERYTHING I picked out of the special order rack was over $100/yard!!! I was totally discouraged. I'll give it another shot, though....See MoreWhat would you do with this fabric?
Comments (15)Marti, I use that kind of fabric to make walker caddies. They don't require a lot of fabric, either. I have had more friends than I care to count recently who have had knee or hip replacements. Even though they only use a walker for several weeks during recouping, they have all been so thrilled by the convenience and independance these little caddies offer. They could also be donated to a charity of choice. the link is below to the pattern. (I did not embroider on it as they show, but it is the BEST walker caddy pattern I've seen...IMOP. Comments (10)Another option is a 90% shade cloth. I bought a 100 foot roll of it via online order from Home Depot. It is a natural color. And I plan to make top-down roman shades with it in front and line them with thermasuede. I bought the thermasuede from www.terrelldesigns.com where I also found the parts to make the shades. Right now, I have just the shade cloth hung from clip rings to shield the windows on the western side of my bedroom. I can see out through the single layer of fabric, but during the day no one can see in. At night I pull the grommeted floor/ceiling drapes across the shade cloth. When I can do so, I will make the roman shades. The texture is similar to what I'd call "grass cloth" wall covering fabric. It is somewhat stiff but not like a board. I'll try to show the fabric for you. and here is the big roll of shade cloth which shows the texture very well....See Morewhat kind of light/chandelier would coordinate with this antique one?
Comments (3)Oh, fun! Beautiful home! What year? There are so many directions you could go, as I’m sure you’ve already found. So many great styles of Victorian lights out there, and staying pure to the period .... but you could also go further ahead in time and do a later era — just as rebellious tired-of-ornateness people did in their Victorians back in the ‘20-‘40s. :D I wouldn’t worry too much about “matching”, unless you really want to stay strictly in a certain timeframe. My own preference would be to do something with more than one bulb, as you need more light there, and it would play off your single light. Here are just a few, I did keep them to Victorian style. I could find lights all day. :) This is from Lamps Plus: I went Art Deco with this one, totally appropriate: https://www.vintagehardware.com/proddetail.php?prod=28831&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4sjyBRC5ARIsAEHsELFxTLflDTEuEkPdsVa8UJJTzR7d2shrTxnN8EQdCkbLhPwhtFqLi30aAkkPEALw_wcB The site above has awesome lights: https://www.vintagehardware.com/proddetail.php?prod=5905-8L-DK This is from Bellacor: ~~~~~ ~~~~~ While looking, I came across one of the most beautiful light fixtures I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if it’s even for sale still, but I just wanted to share with someone who clearly appreciates this style. I just love this. Isn’t it stunning? https://www.worthpoint.com/worthopedia/all-original-victorian-chandelier-ca-1834137266 Forgive me, just wanted to play. :)...See MoreSuzanne Newman
